SOUTH SOCIAL CELEBRATES CHILE
13 July 2019 Elephant Park, London, SE17 1UB
From the arrival of the Spanish conquerors bringing many of the products that would become staples of Chilean cuisine – wheat, pigs, sheep, cattle, chickens and wine – and combining with the indigenous foods such as potatoes, maize, beans, and seafood, Chilean cuisine is notable for its diverse flavours, ingredients and influences.
The country’s diverse geography and climate ensures a wide range of agricultural produce, fruits and vegetables, whilst the long coastline and the peoples’ relationship with the Pacific Ocean add an immense array of seafood products to Chilean cuisine.
South Social Film Festival invited you to enjoy your food from SABORES DE CASA LUCCARDI, a three Chilean women collective that prepares traditional Chilean food like delicious empanadas, choripanes and mil hojas cake.
A special treat to our guests, Guruji snacks will be offering some free lotus seeds goodies.
Let´s make a toast with refreshing drinks by E•THI•KA, good spirits homemade prepared with ingredients that are fair trade, sustainably produced or ethically sourced.
SOUTH SOCIAL CELEBRATES SPAIN
8 June 2019 Moving Pictures Cinema @ Mercato Metropolitano Elephant and Castle
Spanish food is renowned for its flavour, character and variety. Its cuisine brings together influences from around the world and incorporates both old and new traditions. Spain is particularly famous for its tapas – traditionally small appetizer dishes, although today some bars in Spain have evolved tapas into an entire cuisine. Tapas may be cold or warm. South Social Film Festival provided an array of Spanish tapas, from traditional dishes such as gambas ai ajillo, a prawn dish flavoured with garlic, patatas bravas, fried potato served with warm tomato sauce, Spanish tortilla, a potato and egg dish, and more.
