Canada / Argentina, 64mins, dir. Miguel Libedinsky
Become enthralled and enchanted by the original dance craze that has endured changing cultures and tastes through the generations – Tango! Delve into the “tanguero” landscape of Toronto, whose inhabitants share their passion for this multicultural expression of life. Students, instructors, musicians, DJ’s, performance artists, “Milongas”, and special events organizers all try to describe what it is about this electrifying dance that got them hooked. Searching for answers to what the Tango means to them, the documentary asks: What is its universal attraction? What awakens them to this passion? What makes them live it so intensely, and how do they find expression in it?
Miguel Libedinsky is a high school teacher who loves creating and developing passion projects. Filmmaking was always a path Miguel wanted to explore; for this reason he joined LIFT / Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto, where he attended a variety of workshops. As an aficionado, he’s made 3 short films and 2 documentaries. Being an immigrant born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the discovery of intense levels of “Tangoactivity” in Toronto, triggered his motivation to create, direct, and produce this film.
