Angga Dwimas Sasongko (born in Jakarta, January 11, 1985) directed and produced his first feature film Foto, Kotak dan Jendela in 2006 when he was 21. Two years later, he founded Visinema Pictures, a film production company, creating hundreds of music videos and dozens of commercials and feature films. In 2014, Angga won the Maya Award for Best Director and was selected as Director of The Year by Tempo, Indonesia’s weekly news and politics magazine. Angga also won Best Picture in the Citra Awards (Festival Film Indonesia 2015) for his film We Are Moluccans (Cahaya Dari Timur: Beta Maluku).
Angga has been involved in various social activities such as the post-tsunami rehabilitation and reconstruction of Mentawai and setting up a library and home-based community learning center – Pondasi – to educate communities on rural islands across Indonesia.
